I am a high school senior who is highly interested in becoming a FX trader. I have been accepted into the University of Illinois Engineering department and the University of Michigan Engineering department. I am aware that traders need good quantitative skills, so I was wondering what major would be best. Should I study finance, economics, mathematics, computer science or engineering? Should I minor in any of these subjects? I am currently inclined to double major in Finance and Mathematics of Finance and Risk Management at U of M. Furthermore, I hope to study abroad at Oxford for a year and study mathematics and statistics. I have also been trading my own FX account with great success and will (hopefully) continue to do so through college. Is this good preperation for landing a job as a trader? Is there anything I should do differently or additionally?I appreciate any knowledgeable insights. Thanks!
